WhatsApp is now rebounding against child pornography which is shared using its platform. Nearly, 13,0,000 accounts have been deactivated by the app to restrain the sharing of content which features child pornography. There are special AI functions that WhatsApp is using to detect the accounts which are involved in any kind of illegal activities and child pornography is one such activity. WhatsApp has a zero-tolerance policy against such an undertaking and so, it is taking austere steps against child pornography by all means.
All steps against child pornography do not only contain blocking of accounts which are sharing such content. Moreover, the platform is going a step further and is sharing such information to National Center For Missing and Exploited Children, so that the agency can further take action and help children who are in the wrong hands.
One must be thinking that how could the platform detect the information about a particular subject when its messages are end-to-end encrypted? The company cannot exactly see what people are sharing but the AI and engineered tools which are used for detection are capable of looking into unencrypted information. These include Group profile photos and profile photos. This majorly helps in detecting the potential abusers and this is one of the steps against child pornography that WhatsApp is presently undertaking. Let us see how much progress this app makes to get rid of the sharing of such kind of vile content.
