When the first instalment of this movie came back in 2011, it created a roar which can be felt even today. However, the third instalment of this movie, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3, has not proved to be as magical as the first instalment was. In this film, the marriage between Saheb and his wife Madhavi, played by Jimmy Shergill and Mahi Gill is still fuelled by all kinds of mistrust, infidelity and a spark of revenge. This is one thing that is kept intact even in this franchise and is a big relief for the fans. This movie has been picked up from exact place where the second instalment had ended. The scenario shows that Saheb is behind bars on a murder charge and is constantly striving to get his freedom back. On the other hand, his wife Madhavi is seen putting the equal efforts to keep her husband in jail and is also seeing enjoying the substantial glory and power as a Member Of Parliament Post.
The big flaw in the movie is that the main gangster of the film is set as nothing but a caricature. This role is played by Sanjay Dutt as Uday, who is the heir of a royal family and is seen returning to his home after twenty long years. There are much drama and chaos in his own family due to his return. This upheaval is totally unconvincing and has worked as putting the film down. Somehow, Uday gets into the centre of the mischievous plans that have been hatched by Madhavi and Saheb which they did only to receive absolute power. The plot is intriguing but is littered with so many loose characters that it has extracted the excitement of the story. Chitrangada Singh as a dancer, Nafisa Ali and Kabeer Bedi as Uday’s parents are some examples of characters, which have weakened the narrative of Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3. Soha Ali Khan too played a cameo which is kind of a short-changed role. All of these characters hammy and even underutilized.
To make it worse, Sanjay Dutt has not at all done justice to his role as he is seen totally disinterested in the role he has played. All these shortcomings have further weakened the film. The only excitement in the film is when ‘Saheb and his Biwi’ display their mutual hatred in form of revenge sex and scathing insults. On the positive side, Mahi Gill is in good form as a conniving wife who is trying hard to give results to here mischevious intentions regarding her whopped marriage. The upliftment in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 is bought by only Jimmy Shergill who has practically become the part and has pulled it in a great manner. You can give it a shot but do not expect much from the flick.
